What happened to global warming?

The wind chill here last night was -6. Woke up to temps of 8 degrees and of course I had to go to work early this morning. I do not live that far north, and I am sure that I have never felt it this cold before, especially on the first day of winter. I do not think our heat kicked off for more than 5 minutes last night. (We don't have much insulation.) So what happened to global warming? I think some one has fed Al Gore a load of crap.

I may turn into a ice cube before this is over with, and my poor children are going to forget what it is like to leave the house. Like I am going to freeze to death buckling and unbuckling car seats 20 times just to run some errands.

Weekend News

Yesterday was a boring day spent at home. It's too cold here to do anything. Suppose to be 8 degrees tonight. I am not actually sure I have felt it that cold.

Today we went and finally meet our friends' adorable baby girl who was born right before Thanksgiving. So between trips out of town, colds and ice we finally made it over for a visit. We won't even get back into the whole baby fever thing.

On to other things, I am chopping my hair off tomorrow. Not sure how much, but I will make that decision depending on my mood when I get there in the morning. I always do what ever I am feeling at that moment when it comes to my hair. This is one of the few times I have actually had an appointment. Next, I am looking for a cheap Elf On The Shelf set. It is so close to Christmas that it is not worth paying $30.00 but I think it will be a great tradition to start next year. So if you see any cheap ones let me know. Thinking I may find a deal during the after Christmas sales.

A Little Snuggle Goes a Long Way

Each morning I give my girls a bath. After they are all soaped and rinsed, I first get Miss L out of the tub, wrap her up in her towel and send her off to her room. Then it's little s's turn.
After she is all bundled in her towel I pick her up to take her to her room. She snuggles in closely and lays her head on my shoulder. It is such a nice moment, and one that I make last a few extra seconds. My girls are getting so big these days. I no longer get those little snuggles through out the day they are just to busy for that.

Yesterday really took a toll on me. By the time I finally got in bed last night I was too tired to even close my eyes. I was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted. What did I do yesterday? I really can't tell you other than breaking up numerous fights. I was sleeping so hard at 4am when Mr. B woke me up to ask if he could take my car that I asked him if it was Christmas eve.

The ice is even worse today since we got freezing drizzle (whatever that is) last night. The temp still hasn't gotten above freezing, but my school is open today. There are hardly any area schools open so I am not sure why we are. I am actually looking forward to go to work and the post office this afternoon. What am I going to do once I no longer have this escape. My boss emailed me yesterday to tell me that they hired someone who will start at the beginning of the year. This is actually starting to become real.

It's been a long day....

AHHH! There is finally a moment of peace and quiet around here, and the girls aren't even in bed yet. We have been stuck inside for two days straight due to ice and snow. No we didn't have any plans, but there is something about not being able to go anywhere that really stresses me out. I enjoy my freedom to be able to go. I also have not worked since last Friday for an hour. I am starting to get a taste of this SAHM stuff, but I will like it better when we can go do stuff.

I ordered my Christmas present yesterday, and we picked it up at Best Buy. Mr. B made me although I told him exactly what I wanted. He said he did want to hear me complain or not use it when he got the wrong thing. I got a pink IPod nano, which I have to wrap and put under the tree. So I have spent the day trying to figure out how to wire the thing into my car. I think I have it figured out, parts and everything. I am just a little scared to remove parts of my dash. I have also loaded all the CDs I could find onto my laptop. All I have to do on Christmas is sync my IPod, and we are ready for our road trip the next day. I will be really proud of myself if I can get all this done myself. (Well with Mr. B's help of course.)

I hear the rascals fighting once again. That must be my cue to get off the computer. Not sure I will be able to make it another hour and a half if they keep up the shenanigans that have been going on all day.

A New Meaning of Christmas

I think it is odd that this is the first year that we have not had to put Christmas on credit. All of my family is cutting back. Several grandparents are not buying gifts at all, and I completely understand. The economy sucks, and everyone feels they must save. It really feels good to be the giver this year. You know the saying, "Giving is better than receiving." I am totally feeling it. Since I have become an adult and felt the need to buy everyone Christmas gifts myself, I have been ashamed at the measly present I am giving while opening something pretty nice. I know we are lucky to be in the position that we are right now. As an adult Christmas does bring a new meaning with it, and as a parent it brings even more. I am in anticipation of my children's faces Christmas morning. I am more excited about this than any gift I could possibly imagine.

On A Mission Today

Mr. B is off to process his deer from earlier this year. Some how we tricked Miss L into going along to his uncles house with him. Hopefully a favorite cousin will be there, or she might be pissed. After quick showers little s and I are off to get the last few things on my list. Hopefully I will then be done until after Christmas. I have a few others to buy for but since we won't be seeing them until later, I can wait and we can spread the money out over 1 more payday.

I forgot to mention that with all my coupons to Sears, I got the girls Christmas pictures taken for $5.34 with tax. (I always get the package it works great for us, and then I don't have to decide who gets what pose.) But last night I discovered that I still have a whole other set of the same coupons. So I am thinking of having a family picture with the 4 of us. And I am in love with Gymboree's new Wild One line. Perfect excuse to buy these jumpers for the girls. What do you think, wouldn't it be perfect with Mr. B and I in black? Just some middle of the night shopping when I can't fall back to sleep after I get the girls back to bed.

Middle of the Night Makeover

AHHH! A little breath of fresh air around here. Let me know if there is anything that is hard to read. I think I have looked everything over, changed colors, text, etc. But it is the middle of the night and I can only be so observant.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Check out my wreath I made this weekend. I spent $5 total (already had the ribbon). I think it is super cute. We decorated for Christmas last Thursday. I think I am finally in the mood. Especially since I am about half way through my shopping. I always dread Christmas around Thanksgiving time. I guess because I am stressing over how we will buy presents for everyone we have to buy for. But by this time in December, I usually figure out some cheap and easy gifts and can really start enjoying the season. It really sucks when your husband, yourself and even your dad are the remains of divorce. Your Christmas shopping list seems to triple.

I will not shame your eyes on my pathetic tree. The tree itself is really nice, Mr. B picked it out all by himself. But the little people are constantly ripping ornaments off, and then they just get stuck higher up. I remember why we didn't get a tree last year.

Hope you are ready for Christmas and enjoying the season. Miss L is starting to understand the real reason for the season. We have been talking and reading about Jesus's birthday constantly. Although she wants everything she sees, she is also asking if we can sing "Happy Birthday to Jesus" and make him a cake.

I Need an Excuse

I made the trek to the post office this afternoon. Thanks to a viciously barking dog who can not hurt a fly, we only receive mail at a PO box. I use to love getting mail, and now I dread it. So having a PO box is nice since I only have to face the bills once or twice a week. Along with all the Christmas sale adds were some mixed blessings today.

  1. A sweet thank you note from my last giveaway winner Diane. It was a nice surprise.
  2. A check from my survey. Thanks Sasha for suggesting it.
  3. My jury duty notice for TOMORROW!

So if you have any ideas of things I can say to get me out of there quickly tomorrow, please leave me a comment. I'm looking for some good unbelievable stuff, so come on people be creative. And I am sure that if you leave a comment that is beyond hilarious I will send you a little prize. Some one should find joy in my performance of this dreadful civic duty.

I am in shock tonight. My co-worker, the one I have shared an office with for the last 3 years, was diagnosed with cancer last week. Lung cancer that was not present in August but has already spread to her spine, shoulder, neck and brain. I really have no words. My heart is heavy, and I can not get this entire situation out of my head.
